The inspiration for this series and painting was intended to be the inverse of my first series of animals in this style. Instead of the crosshatch pattern on the outside of the animal, the crosshatch is on the inside, now.
 
What can animals teach us within the context of their relationship to the land, and this intrinsic interconnected relationship? Understanding the importance of themes like place, belonging, home, connection. These are themes I want to explore from the animal's point of view in the landscape they exist in.
 
Also, from a wider lens, this allows us to consider what significance we can find in the paths we roam, and how we protect or preserve the interconnection of life we find ourselves in. I'm still working on this series, and excited where it can go this year.
